#MBFWB Day 4

Saturday, July 11, 2015

Aaand here we go with the fourth and the last day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Honestly? I was kind of sad when the last show was over. The four days were fabulous, lovely, wonderful, hectic, painful (heels!), hazy. I enjoyed the shows, the beautiful people, and the wine! Of course I enjoyed the wine. So after this first experience, I can only express hope that it's not the last! OK, now, who will hire me as a (fashion) journalist?! :)

Dorothee Schumacher is an established German designer, who presented her first collection back in 1989. and has kept the same idea in her work since: the one that the true strength of women lies in their femininity. The collection presented today revolved around calm, earthly tones with a dash of print. Cuts and shapes - feminine, of course!

Shai Shalom, an Israeli designer of custom made couture collections for both women and men, stayed faithful to his trademark: application of the same fabric in both women's and men's designs. For SS 2016, the designer has prepared a lot of pastels and shades of nude and brown. As for the materials, he plays with combination of leather, silk, wool and cashmere.

SAMMLER BERLIN, a label by Rebecca Sammler, presented a dream-like collection of dresses and overalls. Each of the pieces is handcrafted and produced in the Sammler Berlin atelier and showroom in Berlin. The stunning dresses are made of lace, silk and fur, and let's not forget sequins. If I had a prom right now, this would be my choice for the outfit!

The title of the quirkiest show goes to Fyodor Golan. The duo, Fyodor Podgorny and Golan Frydman, come from London, and as they both have a background in fine arts, they infuse expressive approach with clean geometrical silhouettes and sportswear aesthetics into modern luxury womenswear. The presented collection could be described in only one word: neon! Lots and lots of neon, bright colors, prints, brave combinations and sky high heels. These pieces would definitely make you playful and fearless.

The show that closed #MBFWB SS 2016 had a motto: Game, Set, Match! Tennis inspired collection by Lilly Ingenhoven was even presented on a green, fake grass runway. Lilly is only 24 years old, but is already determined to only use pure and sustainable fabrics from Europe and ensure that manufacturing conditions are impeccable. Her signature designs include clean silhouettes, minimal patterns and reduced colors, and this collection was no exception, featuring basics and evening wear.

Fashion Week, you were so much fun!

Love, Tihana
