Happy New Year.

Tuesday, January 2, 2018

Hello, lovely people. I hope you're devouring all the nice food there is!

Happy New Year!

I spent the last day of the last year doing light housework (I thought I would vacuum the day after; I don’t know if this officially counts as light housework as well, but the vacuum cleaner in this house is hard to handle and I usually need a shower afterwards).

I cooked a meal and ordered a new camera for myself—one of the material things I wanted to get myself this year was a functioning camera, so when the old one turned out to be irreparable, this was a saving goal.

I tried my new liquid foundation and beauty blender and bronzer and blush and brush for the first time. I think my face looked dirty afterwards. On one hand I’m glad my skin has never needed heavy make-up; on the other, I feel I should have learned how to do this a decade ago.

I read Cat Person because it has caused such hype online and I still didn’t know what it was about. (The verdict: okay, okay, I get why
it got viral, but it was a bit tiring for me to read all those assumptions Margot made about Robert. Though I could have probably been blamed for doing the exact same thing in the past—a big sorry to all my friends who had to listen.)

I made my weekly meal plan (sort of) and training plan and thought about budgeting. (Which also left me a bit unhappy. My wants are exceeding my budget.)

I wanted to watch Love Actually. Though honestly, it doesn’t make much sense to watch it in your underwear with AC turned on because you’re in the middle of summer. I thought I would enjoy the sight of heavy coats and jackets on Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley and Alan Rickman. I thought I would hate him when he almost cheats on his wife.

I did all that on January 1st. My day sounds boring, but the truth is, I liked it. I have come to a point where I cherish low-key weekends and calm evenings.

After all, I am turning the dreadful age this year.

Welcome, 2018.
